This project aims to develop a machine learning approach to predict the energy consumption of an electric vehicle given information about the intended route and associated terrain information such as altitude. This project will also however, have to find an appropriate dataset from which the models can be learnt and settle nuances such as finding an appropriate sampling rate for the time series data. Additionally, the possibility of not finding the desired type or the adequate amount of data will also have to be accommodated, in which case a host of simulation approaches might have to be looked into. Eventually, this project aims to allow users to predict energy consumption after having proposed routes and hence may also be used to estimate operating ranges, thus helping alleviate range-anxiety.
