LibreOffice is a powerful cross-platform office suite.

LibreOffice is a powerful office suite; its clean interface and powerful tools let you unleash your creativity and grow your productivity. LibreOffice embeds several applications that make it the most powerful Free & Open Source Office suite on the market: Writer, the word processor, Calc, the spreadsheet application, Impress, the presentation engine, Draw, our drawing and flowcharting application, Base, our database and database frontend, and Math for editing mathematics.

LibreOffice is compatible with many document formats such as Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. But LibreOffice goes further by enabling you to use a modern open standard, the OpenDocument Format (ODF).

Though the members of our community hail from many different backgrounds, we all value personal choice and transparency, which translates into better compatibility, more utility, and no lock-in to a single product. We believe that Free Software can provide better quality, higher reliability, increased security, and greater flexibility than proprietary alternatives.

The community behind LibreOffice is what sets this project apart. The passion and drive that every individual brings to the community results in collaborative development that often exceeds our own expectations. We invite everyone to join us in our work and help us to make LibreOffice even better and accessible to all.

The LibreOffice project is hosted and run by the Document Foundation, a charity setup by the community, for the community. We carefully crafted the governance rules to ensure transparency, empowering individuals, and preventing dominance of single entities. Through the use of copyleft licenses such as the Mozilla Public License, GNU Lesser General Public License, and Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License, we commit to protecting your rights as developers and content creators.
